After a fretful night (for me – Nigel was soundly asleep!!) at anchor off the Turk’s Head during which a neighbouring yacht dragged, we headed around to Grimsby Sound and I was relieved to find a mooring buoy.
Yet another beautiful spot, this time sandwiched between the islands of Tresco and Bryher. We headed ashore in Terry the tender and spent the afternoon walking around the island; more white sand beaches, blue seas, and a few old fortifications too. It was fairly apparent from the mooring fee of £40 per night and some fairly steep prices in the one but rather smart pub that Tresco markets itself as a ‘up-market’ destination with prices to match.
The following morning, still on the buoy, we spent some time trying to find the source of the leak that was allowing water in from the deck into the port side of the cabin. This involved pouring water around various deck fittings and seeing if anything arrived inside! We applied sealant around several suspect areas, the base of a stanchion and a section of toe rail that joins the hull to the deck and then set off to walk around yet another island, this time Bryher!
After an early supper we got an early night ready for the long passage northwards towards Ireland the next morning.
