The plan develops

Back in November Nigel and I had an ‘Initial Planning Conference’ in Portsmouth Sailing Club and an outline plan was developed....!! This weekend that plan was developed a little further, once again with a beer at the PSC.

In brief, we hope to set off just after Easter, make reasonably quick progress westwards (we’ve been to the South coast before!) and, if weather permits, visit the Isles of Scilly. We both need to return home over the second weekend of May so will possibly leave Little Scarlet in Milford Haven, ready to head over to Ireland by mid May.

We then plan to head South and West around the ‘outside’ of Ireland before returning to England, possibly Whitehaven, Cumbria by mid-June. Again we will need to leave Little Scarlet for a week or so but hope to be up on the west coast of Scotland throughout July and then heading south down the East coast in August. We hope to pass around Cape Wrath and visit Scapa Flow so at this stage do not intend using the Caledonian canal to ‘cut off’ the stop of the circumnavigation.

BUT – as with all plans – it is extremely likely that this plan will change!! The weather is likely to be the key factor in deciding our progress!
